Feature Rollout: Marketing Automation just got a whole lot easier

Stuart ‘Stoo’ Gill, one of our awesome Product Managers, pulls back the curtain on an exciting new feature that’s rolling out as Open Beta across our user-base.

If, like me, you overindulged a little on the pancakes yesterday, you may be looking for ways to make your working day easier. If so, I have just the thing for you. We’ve released dotMailer’s latest marketing automation feature, a visual drag-and-drop method to automate your marketing programmes in minutes.

dotMailer is known for having easy-to-use, enterprise-level email marketing tools. Whenever we demonstrate the drag and drop editor, or segmentation tool, people are blown away with how tasks that previously took them days can now be done in minutes. But we’ve had, for too long now, a badly behaving sibling to these favoured children; the dotMailer trigger builder. Don’t get me wrong, our trigger tool is immensely powerful and has been used to automate lots of complex marketing (such as the recently profiled work we did with Danone Nutricia), but it’s a little clunky and has a habit of causing a bit of confusion.

So, as of tonight’s dotMailer update, you now have access to the beta version of our new marketing automation feature; a drag and drop programme builder with all the speed-of-use you’d expect from dotMailer.

Using the new marketing automation feature

Under our ‘Automation’ menu item, you’ll find access to ‘My programs’ a new time-saving, easy-to-use tool to help you to plan, build, communicate and execute your marketing campaigns in an automated fashion.

Creating a basic automated programme couldn’t be easier, simply:

  • Define your start criteria (such as “Start 30 days before membership expiry”)
  • Select the campaign to be sent
  • Activate your program

And a more complex programme is just as simple. Just build on the basic programme by adding delays and decisions. Because you can build it in our easy to follow, free form layout, you can share it with the rest of your marketing team so that everyone understands what messages are being communicated, and when.

If you’re still using our older trigger tool, then there’s no need to worry as they’re still running. But with the new marketing automation feature, we think you’ll find you can achieve much more, much faster. Because it’s in dotMailer, there’s no need for costly set-up time installing software; it’s all there in the platform, waiting for you to use right now.

Help files on using dotMailer for automation can be found in our knowledge base, though we hope the tool is so fast and easy to use that you’ll never need it.

We’re not done yet!

The tool has been many months in the making, and we’re not done yet — we’ve got a lot more up our sleeves, so keep checking back for the latest additions to the automation feature, which, according to our beta testers, is the fastest-to-use marketing automation tool on the market by a long shot.
