If you’re wondering how you’re going to make social media work for your business in 2012, stop!
Right now, if you need to drive significant levels of new inbound leads, you’ve got no choice – you must have a content strategy. Without compelling content, social media doesn’t ‘ripple’, and without social media, you’re just missing out – even (especially) you B2B marketers out there.
The benefit is fivefold. You get content that attracts your target audience to your website. Done well, content can position you as a thought leader. You’ll upskill your workforce if you get your colleagues involved and contributing. You’ll not be lost for stuff to share on social media.
And (in my opinion best of all) Google will reward you for having fresh, relevant content by boosting your visibility in their results. In fact, having valuable, shareable content is some companies’ sole driver of business.
A contact at Hubspot, for example, told me that 10% of all their business has come from blogs JUST on the topic of social media. And they’ve generated 6.5 MILLION leads in their first five years of business. So it works.
