From buying dresses to watching films, Facebook is about a lot more than just poking these days. The social network is now used by 46% of the UK population and is increasingly becoming the centre of our online lives.
We’ve discussed many times the benefits of integrating your email marketing with your social media strategy. And, as the lines between Facebook and the rest of the internet continue to blur, this will become an increasingly effective way to acquire new subscribers.
Here at dotMailer, we’re passionate about promoting email marketing best practice – it’s important to make it as easy as possible to maintain good email data hygiene and expand recipient lists. We also really like Facebook…
So with that in mind, we’re launching a brand new feature for dotMailer to make it as easy as possible for users to visit your Facebook page and immediately sign up to receive your email newsletters.
Allow us to introduce…
We feel connectors are really important for marketers. They give you more control of your data and allow you put data at the heart of your marketing strategies, no matter which channels you use.
You may have read our recent blog post which announced another connector we’ve developed to link in with Microsoft Dynamics CRM. And expect to see many more developments on this front over the next few months, allowing you to bring your dotMailer data to other apps. If you have any request or ideas, chip in on our forums here.
For a full rundown of how to get started, check out the guide here. In the meantime, here are a few tips to bear in mind:
Top Tips for the Facebook Connector
- Think carefully about which fields to include to ensure you get the best data possible. This is key to any email marketing strategy and an important element of being able to segment your audience later on.
- We give the option of changing the data label fields to something more friendly – so ‘FNAME’ can become ‘First name:’, etc.
- Remember to add the app to all your Facebook pages if you have more than one
